CN: [Malay - Belong tanah betina, Paku biawak, Panah arjuna (sharing vernacular name with Trichiogramme alismifolia (C. Presl) Kuhn, syn. Syngramma alismifolia (C. Presl) J. Sm.)], Monitor lizard fern. Native to peninsular Thailand; Malesia (Sumatra, Malay Peninsula, Borneo). Habitat in lowland forest, rather common in the Peninsula. Terrestrial; caudex erect, to 10 cm tall; fronds somewhat dimorphous; stipe of sterile fronds commonly to 10 cm long, of fertile ones to 25 cm, basal scales 8 mm long. In folk medicine, the leaves are used as a cure for fever and a post-natal tonic. Methanol/methylene chloride extracts from leaves, roots and stems have cytotoxic potential against human breast cancer cells.
