Description:
Square-Spotted Blue (Euphilotes battoides), CaliforniaIt was cold and overcast yesterday in the San Gabriels, so I wasn't expecting to see any butterflies, but I saw these guys on buckwheat everywhere! They're called blue because the back of their wings are really shiny blue. They're small too: only about 1 inch.
