Bukit Tagar, Hulu Selangor, Malaysia.Seedlings nurtured from seeds obtained through controlled pollination of selected parents (Dura and Pisifera) ready to be transported for field planting. Elaeis guineensis Jacq. syn. Elaeis guineensis subsp. nigrescens A.Chev. CN: [Malay - Kelapa sawit], African oil palm, Oil palm. Plant monoecious with both male and female flowers borne on the same tree. Virtually all commercial oil palm planted are the seedlings obtained through controlled pollination between the Deli Dura (female) and the Tenera (male) for better fruit set and hence more oil extraction.
