Male. From this viewing and lighting perspective, I'm not seeing any faint red on the wings by the body as can be seen in this recent observation at the same location: http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/4068513

There were several males flying around and I don't recall if these two are the same or different individuals. Regardless, both photos were in very close proximity. The wings show a bit of blue adjacent to the body, fringed by dark red in both images.

There's going to be a HUGE community park here in Midlothian. Today, I met with the parks superintendent to talk about a potential wildlife area -- fingers crossed! :) These few ponds will be nearby.
