Summary[edit] Description: English: Phalaris arundinacea, reed canary grass, at Geddes Brook Wetlands, which was restored as part of the Onondaga Lake Cleanup. This grass species is native to both North America and Eurasia. It is widely planted for both forage and erosion control, but it is often considered invasive in North America, particularly in Canada. However, it is not listed as invasive in New York State, where this site is located. It is thought that the Eurasian genotype may be most problematic in North America. However the two races cannot be differentiated using morphological characters, only by DNA or indirectly by its tendency to dominate wetlands. Date: 7 June 2015, 15:43:11. Source: Own work.
