We gathered with around 25 other iNatters for the Big Thicket BioBlitz -- it was the best time ever to explore with fellow naturalists. On this night, we had several stations of night lights to attract moths and nocturnal critters.

We gathered with around 25 other iNatters for the Big Thicket BioBlitz -- it was the best time ever to explore with fellow naturalists. For our second evening, we got together and grilled some hot dogs and set up the moth light again -- this time at the sundew trail. Many of these ID's are tentative -- I'll have to work a bunch on them later. Lots of new things for me! :)

IMHO, one of the coolest looking insects of the BioBlitz.

Also known as Zebra Caddis. 11 mm body, 17 mm wing. Wing w/broad light brown marks or stripes on darker background. Dark grey/black body. Very long antennae â at least twice body length. This species is reputed to inhabit relatively warm waters, as far as trout streams go. This fits the Millers River well - it gets pretty warm in late spring and summer.
