I found what appeared to be 2 different variants in Tilden Park yesterday (see attached photos). The grayer form is likely the Spring brood (emerges March-May), while the buff-colored form may be the summer brood (emerges May-June) (see Art Shapiro's Butterfly Site). These broods overlap. The warm weather is pushing everything through rapidly.

I need help with this one! Coastal California, about 30 miles south of San Francisco. This was small, maybe 1-1.5 inches.
