When we found this turtle, a friend who is very familiar with the species was along and ID'd it.

"I need confirmation on the ""triunguis"" bit of my identification... This turtle was found by accident on a moist bit of mulched path near a pond. The area was solid ground, but with poor drainage."

Found the turtle I call Waddles near an old tree stump. In her normal living area, I see her around this specific spot often. face and claws dirty. recent flooding. no rain today. I've found her over 30 times since 2012. She has a distinctive waddley gait.

Waddles - under a mulberry tree near old rotted tree stump in her normal home area. no rain. stinky. always runs when i talk to her. many other turtles will stay still and wait for you to come close and then close up, but she runs... maybe it's because of her damaged carapace, or maybe she recognizes my voice.
