Colorful above reddish with no blotching; below with red about chest, throat, front legs, and majority of hind legs. Expressed squeaking and growling release call when handled. Measured: SVL 72 mm (2 in.). During rainy night, jumped from steep slope onto road preceding vehicle. Besides this individual road kill detected.

Frog was crossing a dirt road in Osceola National Forest, after dark. Wetlands in area, various frogs calling, but did not hear this species

Large, apparently torpid or ailing male, noticed upside-down and submerged in creek pool with eyes closed. When picked up, appeared emaciated and weak. However, after warming, frog was energetic and no longer appeared thin.

Hundreds observed in hot spring and when approached, most quickly leaped into water. Adults, juveniles and tadpoles viewed. Above grayish, brown, or greenish with dark spots and pale, dorsolateral ridges that reflected inward at rear; below white. Two males examined measured: SVL 77 mm (3 in.); SVL 50 mm (2 in.); juveniles measured 40 mm (1 in.); SVL 45 mm (1 in.).
