In a reach of about 200 meters we saw a couple dozen and two gravid females. It was a mild, sunny day with lots of overhanging shade. The creek flow was steady at maybe 0.4 cfs, or 200 gpm.

As soon as I saw the Little Yosemite area of Sunol, I figured yellow-leggeds were a possibility: fast-flowing water, pools, rocks. Unfortunately there were also abandoned water bottles, dogs, and cows, so I had doubts. Luckily those doubts were unfounded.

This individual is perhaps a female and it was gigantic , about the size of a baseball ! It appeared near the creek just after a very hard rain fell during dry season .

This anuran was seen hopping out of Sonoma Creek and then posing for this photograph on an emergent stone. It was about five cm long SVL.
