I walked into some deep woods near a marshy like area following this very large dragon. One of my hoped for species on the trip was dragonhunter so I followed any large one that I saw. Having just seen the baby alligator I was feeling quite on edge. The area really seemed like good habitat for them. Then thought we heard what sounded like the sound juvenile alligators make in distress. I know, I watch too many nature programs.

In one of the most unexpected odonate encounters I've had, this male Swamp Darner somehow wound up on the back steps of our Hyde Park apartment.
