Mexican Bluewing Myscelia ethusa Santa Ana N.W.R., Hidalgo Co., Texas 5 October 2008 There is a very informative discussion on similar butterflies at: http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/182214 but the present species is the only one known from the U.S.
The rain was still coming down, but Elizabeth and I wanted to explore some more of the area nonetheless. We went to Resaca de la Palma State Park -- spotted some pretty neat things, and the sun even popped out... for a minute. :) Lucky to spot this one -- had to use the camera flash in the rain though.
