Oak Titmouse (Baeolophus inornatus). I clearly observed the distinctive crest and correct color in person, but it was faster than my camera - these were the best photos I got before it was scared away.

Thought it was a tufted titmouse but looks like they are only in the east. Maybe it is an oak Titmouse?
