While checking around the base of a Powder-Bark -
Eucalyptus accedens tree today. I spied this beautiful jumping spider. These spiders attract mates by standing and lifting their 3rd legs into the air. They then make a beautiful display by lifting flaps from the side of their abdomen and tilting their abdomen. The display can be seen here:
www.xs4all.nl/~ednieuw/australian/salticidae/Peacock_spid...This one lifted one leg to signal but then moved on jumping from one piece of bark to another. Such an amazing little spider to find. 4-5mm

It was a beautiful day. The weather was very pleasant. I found more than 10 pairs of this beautiful spider in a 10 m X 10 m area. Almost all of them were in the process of mating. The pair seen here was cautious and hesitant to approach each other.I waited for more than an hour for something to happen. But it didn't :-(I moved onto observing the next pair, they were very active and the picture can be seen here:

I haven't been out at night much lately to see what is around. This beauty was sitting under an Agapanthus leaf.

They are so tiny but so beautiful and sneak up when you are least expecting them. I was checking for a different spider when this little fella came out waving his legs and looking, looking.I keep on going back to the spot to see if I can see it again but... not yet!!
