Summary[edit] Description: Español: Lactarius vinosus asociado a pinos a partir de 700 m. de altura en la mayoría de casos y hasta los 1.500 metros aproximadamente, suele florecer en otoño cuando las condiciones de precipitación, temperatura, humedad y viento le han sido favorables. Puede parasitarse de Hypomyces lateritius dandole un aspecto, consistencia y gusto distintos, siendo igualmente comestible. No confundir con el hongo ascomiceto parasito Hipomyces lactifluorum (o nombre común : "hongo langosta") que transforma el color del fruto en el característico color naranja rojizo que se asemeja a la capa exterior de una langosta cocida. Junto con Hipomyces lateritius, Lactarius vinosus, Lactarius deliciosus, Lactarius sanguineus y Lactarius semisanguineus, aparentemente por este orden, son muy apreciados por su sabor, en función de la región.
