Dead, its tail was hanging out of the mouth of a small California kingsnake which was crawling along the side of the trail at 5:30 pm. There were still large puddles from rain in the morning. I had know idea there were blind snakes here, and I assume this species has never been found here before, at least not recently. Just double check the pics in case I'm missing something, but I'm not sure what else it could be. Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, the kingsnake didn't its meal, even though I picked him up before I saw the blind snake.

Found crawling right in the middle of the trail after dark. I was very excited about this find and getting the pics because I saw one here last September, but it was too quick for me and I couldn't get any photos. After being picked up and set back down on the side of the trail, the snake buried itself halfway in the sand and became very still. It sat there for a minute and then proceeded to crawl away.

Another blind snake! This one was found about five minutes after the other one, also crawling along the trail.

This blind Threadsnake was found hunting in a dry, sandy creek bed. The moon was nearly full, and I found this specimen in an area where the moon was obscured by rocks. The temperature was in the low 60s, and the snake was observed, photographed, and left where found.
