Flipped under a small rock on the hillside of Bamberger Ranch Preserve. Snake was very calm and sitting with a bunch of fire ants. I got bit by some of the ants but I'm sure this snake was enjoying it's ant snack.

Seen crossing the road at sunset about a day after heavy storms. Rare to see these above ground! Confirmed three scales between eyes. Will probably deposit at the ARDRC.

Private landowner survey with LPMN Biocensations @sandboa This observation was the height of our day. We watched the snake (that looked like a giant earthworm) eating ants by dipping into the ant mound...without having them to swarm out. Not fire ants, because I disturbed the edge of the mound to investigate. Fascinating. All photos taken to show the activity of the snake. Should have taken a video

Found in the house, completely tangled in dog hair. We spent 30 minutes snipping each hair and untangled the poor little guy.
