On the last day of a trip up and down the Florida Keys, this ray really came through.Every ray encounter I'd had recently ended up lacking, either due to water conditions, bad luck, or I just happened to be picking my nose when i should have had the camera at the ready. This one was a little standoff-ish at first, but when we met a few minutes later, it was much more cooperative. The only drawback is, that due to the clarity, I had to get in close, and that means you can't get the tail in the frame. You can't have it your way, most days, but I definitely got what I was looking for, this day.Southern StingrayHypanus americanusJohn Pennekamp Coral Reef State ParkFar Beach, Largo SoundKey Largo Monroe County Florida, USAOlympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II14-42mm II LensPT-EP13 Underwater Housing, PPZR-EP02 Lens Port & 14-42mm Zoom Gear
While the ray scours the flats. the snapper scouts ahead for the next morsel.I never managed to get a look at what they were searching for, but it appeared to be an endless brunch buffet.
