Stranded by the tide on the beach. It was alive, but not that happy. We returned it to the water, but I don't think it would have lived much longer.
-
Under a rock ledge, still covered by water at low tide.

Do not have a clue what this is. Living under a rock in a tidal gut.

Internal in a large black slug. Rescued one specimen from squabbling gulls which were cleaning it up. Poor critter was half eaten. RIP. This after sustaining several falls onto rocks from considerable height that I witnessed. These shells are very strong. It does suggest a way the half specimen might have ended up thus. Again, the state of the outer surface of these shells belies a great age.

This was found on the underside of a rock that was turned over and is black. I am taking a guess here that is is a sea anemone - maybe a waratah that is darked than the usualy red seen?
-
I am guessing that this moving black blob is the shield shell, although when touched the black did not retract. Found under a rock in the low intertidal zone.

On upper side of rock at low tide in shallow water near tide line.
