He lives in a village of about150 inhabitants, and among these are several cases of elephan-tiasis. Has been ailing for four or five years with ague oftertian type. Off and on has had attacks every winter withthe advent of the cold weather. His spleen has been en-larged for several years, and since a year ago he has beensubject to attacks of pain and swelling in the left testicle andcord. On examination his spleen is found to extend to theumbilicus, but no swelling of cord, testicles, scrotum, glands,or legs can be made out; nor is there any history ofehyluria or lymphatic fever. Two months ago he had asingle fit of fever, and is now very anssemic. During the time he was under observation he was givenquinine and iron in full doses. Case III.
