In the field this critter looked all black. I used a flash and the images show blue highlights due to the flash. No idea what wasp this might be. Only got these two shots before it flew off.

Noticed it crawling on the ground. Thought it might be a Velvet Ant at first. Did not find a match on a quick scan through BG.

On the last day of our vacation, we decided to hit a couple more state parks. Bummer though -- Palmetto Palm State Park was closed because of the Oct 31 flood! We were just able to walk around a short trail on the north side of the river. Nonetheless, nature was there. :)
