Resting on wire fencing. Moving mouthparts a lot. Many dragonflies and damselflies around the area. Sunny weather with slight breeze.

"Varigated Meadowhawk is my best guess for what are probably immature females in these photos. I used ""Dragonflies through Binoculars"" and various online resources to look for a match. (I don't have Paulson's ""west"" book.) The M2 vein looks more wavy than the Sympetrum wing shown in Needham, Westfall, and May, but there are a lot of species in the genus. ID, please?"
