Blanchard's Cricket Frog (Acris blanchardi) 26 June 2016 Lyndon B. Johnson National Grassland Cottonwood Lake County Road 2560/Forest Service Road 900 Wise County, Texas Blanchard's Cricket Frog was observed next to the lake's shoreline at Cottonwood Lake. This one was still a youngster and was only about one inch long. There were many frogs in the general vicinity of the lake. The Cottonwood Lake area is not one that provides basic amenities like a restroom and potable water. There are no trash cans either. Instead signs indicate that if you pack it in, you have to pack it out. The lake was filled to capacity and evidence indicated recent flooding in the lake's adjoining area. The LBJ National Grassland is administered by the US Forest Service, US Department of Agriculture.

This small frog hopped onto a concrete walkway as I approached and posed for a couple of photos.
