Summary[
edit] Description: Sarea resinae (Fr.) Kuntze
MycoBank Image location: Bootlegger’s Run Trail, Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park, Maryland Heights, Missouri, USA Having just read Lawrence Millman’s article in the most recent FUNGI journal about this tiny, orange ascomycete (“A particularly large specimen may be a millimeter in diameter …”) that fruits in the resin oozing from White Pine cankers, I could hardly believe my luck when I spotted these specimens fruiting from the resin of the first White Pine I encountered. These specimens measured barely 0.5 mm. In the thumbnail image, that’s my thumbnail (for scale) — no pun intended — in the lower left side of the photo. Used references: FUNGI, Vol. 9:4 Winter 2016, pp.16-17, MO observations, Mycobank
