San Diego County, California, US A fun outing with the Natural History Club of San Diego State University, @jaykeller and @matthew_salkiewicz Fresh hatchlings! We watched as the were being pushed out from the crevice where the mother was hiding. Hundreds of them in total. Identification based on the fact that the other intertidal octopus, California Two-spot Octopus (Octopus bimaculoides), has babies in the spring and the East Pacific Red has them on the summer/fall. Intertidal Invertebrates of California An HD video is on my Flickr page https://flic.kr/p/APk98u
