Near creek by drainage ditch.

mutilated chopped up snake. location is approximate. it was brought in from harris county, north of 610. it was killed and brought to the hospital as a venomous snake bite. as an addition, it was even worse because they froze it and never realized all the babies were probably still alive inside. I got the snake and found frozen babies hanging out of the chopped sections. still mad to this day. rant over

Western Ribbon Snake observed at Snake Road at Larue Pine Hills in Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois.

Striped longitudinally. Obvious red stripe down middle of back. Lateral white stripes. Approx. 18 in. long. Both snake and me startled. Snake fled to safety of water (stock pond) but promptly swam back to shore where I lost sight of him. Non-aggresive.
