Canada Germander, Teucrium canadense, widespread, but one I was not familiar with until we moved to the new bee lab compound. There it was holding its own in amidst large patches of japanese honeysuckle and other thugish plants. Turns out it is a great bumble bee plant, with loads of B. pensylvanicus and other species. Check out the major landing pad and the flower and the "I will dab some pollen on your back" stamens and pistil. Likes its feet wet,... one wonders if you couldn't turn it into a lovely ditch plant along roadsides (odd how roads always follow ditches isn't it...). Does not seem to have any particular advocates, societies, or champions....so we will be playing around with it at the bee lab to see if we can't develop it into a better ditch weed.
