This tiny annual is one of the rarest plants of Israel and adjascent areas. It was collected in Jerusalem 67 years ago and we found it again two weeks ago, thin time south of Hebron. It grows as a weed in traditionally managed fields. It is very difficult to protect such rare 'weeds' because their habitat is disappearing with the progress of agriculture.

I found this lovely wild foxglove in the lower Sierra Nevada near Granada. It seems like a nice perennial of rather arid places.

Antirrhinum majus ssp. tortuosum is a protected perennial, growing wild in the cliffs of the Galilee (N Israel) and westwards until Italy. In Israel it was planted by the road company along many roads and proved as a great ornamental there.
