Ranunculus asiaticus (Turban Buttercup) is a common and protected flwoer in Israel. Almost all flowers are red (unlike the rest of the Mediterrnaena where white, pink and yellow forms occur). This is the progenitor for the cultivated forms that have fuller flowers. I found it very hard to get right this very bright red (in the film era it weas easier).

In the rest of the Mediterranean area there are white and pink forms.

Adonis palaestina is a subendemic species in Israel. It is an annual with rather large red flowers. I found it hard to photograph, especially in bright sun. This specimen has a relatively large black centred flowers.
