This population falls outside the described range of this species. It would represent a 'yellow flag' in Jepson description map. It would not be alone as other records from this edge of the Sierra which might be better described as Dmoj.
Plants scattered on open degraded grassland, gravelly volcanic soils over basalt substrate. Leaf view. Note small, coarse, barbed hairs which provide the tightly clinging 'velcro' or 'stick tight' effect the foliage of this and other members of the genus display when brushed against clothing or hair.
