I have recently been brousing among theback numbers of the Garden, running backinto 1913. There is so much good pickingin its pages that one is tempted to bring tolight again some of the many good thingsfound there. One theme that has run throughits pages with much persistency—Plant, plant, plant, for the City Beautiful in 1915. Wemay now take a retrospective view of theyear that has just been ushered out with sucha bang and boom. While the showing maynot be all that we could desire, still someprogress has been made along the City Beau-tiful idea. There is still an urgent call toplant for the city more beautiful in 1916. Plant, plant, plant with care,Plant the common flowers, plant the rare,Plant them here and plant them there;Plant in the rough places and the bare,Plant your flowers most anywhere.Plant for the nineteen-sixteen fair.
