Calochortus plummerae—Plummer's mariposa lily. Included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants on list 4.2 (limited distribution). Named for Sara Plummer Lemmon, a self-trained, but important California botanist of the late-nineteenth century. This Calochortus is not quite as endangered as once thought. Still, it has a restricted range because it chose to grow on land where Los Angeles was built. The bee (yes, a bee) has been identified as belonging to Ceratina sp. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
