From Bill Clark: 7F8 was banded while a chick at a nest in 2009 on Appledore Island in Maine at the Shoals Marine Lab. Only one record exists since 2009 and that is from Race Point Beach, Provincetown on August 8 2013. 7F8 shows adult plumage as is expected of any GBBG four years and older. It is likely that 7F8 has been nesting somewhere and we would like to know where since the gull has not been observed on Appledore Island.

From Bill Clark: 5T1 was also banded while a chick at a nest July 12 2011on Appledore Island in Maine. The nest was at the Sunset Pavilion at the Shoals Marine Lab. Dr. David Bonter of Cornell Lab of Ornithology was the bander. You have the honor of the first OFF-Island sighting of 5T1 since no reports of 5T1 have been received since the day 5T1 was banded. 5T1 also shows adult plumage as is expected of any GBBG four years and older. We sure would like to know where 5T1 has been nesting since the gull has not been observed on Appledore Island. A first âOff-Islandâ report as a chick who is not an adult is especially of interest since it means the gull has survived to the age where nesting is probable and that is a focus of one of the studies based on the âGulls of Appledoreâ banding project.

Fighting over a fresh fish (to keep them busy so they wouldn't keep chasing the Ivory Gull away -- at last, not as often). These guys play for keeps!
