Female Brewer's Blackbird also in the photo for comparison. Had been tipped off to the presence of this bird in this location by someone who had heard about the bird from Ron Mallory, who had taken pictures posted to Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/129363730@N02/with/15187759893/

During the Bastrop Christmas Bird Count on 1/1/2015, Ray Heitmann and Judy Bohm found two Rusty Blackbirds in a flooded pecan orchard along Kauffman Road. They were not able to photograph the birds. Ray reported having seen Rusty Blackbirds in this same orchard in 2012 during the CBC. On 1/4/2015, I visited the area in hopes of re-finding and photographing the birds. I found one male. The bird was vocalizing from the top of one of the pecan trees near the road. I was able to take numerous photos and a video before he flew off.
