After several minutes chasing snacks in the spring, this very cooperative cormorant took up a perch, dried out, and took a little nap.Double-crested CormorantPhalacrocorax auritus Alexander Springs Recreation AreaOcala National ForestLake County FloridaOlympus OM-D E-M514-42mm II LensPT-EP08 Underwater Housing, PPO-EP01 Lens Port & 14-42mm Zoom Gear
This accomplished freediver has got the technique down pat; first it pokes it's head under to scout out each dive, then it shoots below the surface and goes in to make a grab. The element of surprise is usually in it's favor.I've seen a few do their thing nearby, and not seem to mind me, but this particular Cormorant would approach directly and swim right alongside, and then dive right in front of me. It was still quite a challenge to catch, because it appears and passes by so fast.
