Exciting to find this male with two fledglings. Known as Mr Hot Pink on account of his leg bands, this popokatea was translocated from Tiri Tiri Matangi and released near Waitakere Dam at Ark in the Park, in May 2016. He was first sighted at Arataki Visitor Centre September 2016.

Three singing popokatea including this fledgling foraging in kanuka with silver eyes, fantails and grey warblers. Fledgling rested on a branch while adults foraged, preened and flapped wings begging for food.
