edit] Description: English: A
Pacific oyster (Magallana gigas) about, 12 cm (4.7 in) long, with two smaller oysters and a barnacle (Chthamalus) attached to it. Both the smaller oysters are open, the larger at the top still holds the oyster. The smallest oyster sits between the one and the barnacle, it is empty. In the middle of the top of the shell are dark dots with threads. Those are the
holdfasts of an algae (wrack) that was attached to the oyster. The oyster was picked in
