I found this half of an attractive bivalve shell on the beach this morning. It was about 4-5 cm in diameter. As a side note, I wonder what the general opinion is about the provenance of beach shells in urban areas. Surely almost all of them are washed up naturally, but I suppose it's hard to rule out human transport?
