Locality: NEW ZEALAND AK, Auckland 1072, suburb of Saint Johns, University of Auckland Tamaki Campus. Habitat: Visiting an umbel of Daucus carota, in weedy wasteland area. Identification: Pollenia pseudorudis Rognes, 1985. Male. ID based on male genitalia. I have observed many specimens, like this one, missing the usual golden vestiture. Possibly worth another look at some stage (the wings seem more shaded and the calypters are maybe a slightly different shape and colour).
