Had a BLAST doing some blacklighting with some serious moth-ers. :) Special thanks to Francisco with Ashgrove for getting us special access to this location. It was great. :) I'm just uploading these quickly now, but I'll work on the ID's later.

Several of these ant-sized flies were on a Texas Thistle plant covered with aphids. They kept rowing their wings around. Possibly Euxesta notata? These were the closest I could find. Any help with ID is most appreciated!

once you see something, you start noticing them

another insect that finds the scat of a carnivore attractive; funny once you see a new species, which this one was fairly recently, you start to see it a lot...

I believe this to be E. caliptera or possibly E. novaeboracensis, but neither iNat taxa nor BugGuide Texas observations go to the species level. www.bugguide.net/node/view/517293 http://www.fsca-dpi.org/Diptera/Teph_GSMNP/Species%20Accounts/Eutreta_caliptera.htm

These were all over the Silver Bush Lupine leaves. Looks like the same fly @kueda found a few years ago: http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/602239
