Female sealion poking about in the surf off Shelly beach and 20 minutes later in the mouth of the salt marsh tidal outflow at the tip of the Aramoana spit...she went off up the harbour as we passed by and came out of the water below the Aramoana Pilot's Wharf after we had got well up the beach towards the harbour mouth...

Sealion at rest at base of sand dunes....the last of 10 on the beach on Monday...no photo of the 10th, he was jammed up against the rocks in the shade on the southern end of the beach...very well camouflaged!...also saw a Yellow eyed penguin returning from the ocean and proceeding up the dune at the southern end of the beach...too far away for a decent snap.
