Grey tinamou seen about 7:30am on a trail above Copalinga Ecolodge on the road to Bombuscaro entrance to Podocarpus National Park. The bird was extremely approachable, coming with 3 or 4 feet of me. I think he was expecting a hand-out of corn since the lodge feeds the birds daily.

We saw a Kiwi baby at the Heaphy Track. It was standing right next to the track at about 9:30 am. It didn't appear sick, rather just lost a bit. After seeing us, it ran around a bit, stumbled onto the track and finally hid into a hole under some roots. It didn't wear any visible marker or ring around the legs. Its size was approximately 15cm length plus the beel.
