"This shell has the broad green streak on the umbo typical of Q. p. pustulosa rather than the common Q. p. mortoni. It may still just be a variant of that form/subspecies. This one lacks pustules, like many in the Trinity River, and similar shells may have been identified (correctly or incorrectly) as Q. ""houstonensis."" Only a small percentage of juveniles of this form show the green streak, so there may be more than one species in this complex in the Trinity River."
