Summary[
edit] Description: A pair of December's Finally on the best night weather-wise for over a week now here in North Herts, some moths! 1 each of Brick, November Moth and Epiphyas postvittana but best of all was a pair of December Moths. Females are very scarce for me, this being only my third in 11 years. Still no sign of Sprawler which is a regular here usually. I still feel about as groggy as the weather looks at the moment. Summary[
edit] Description: Grinding to a halt Hello all, not much happening my end unfortunately for me with not really a sniff of much migration apart from a single Plutella xylostella. For me it hasn't been a great year for migration with no Gem, Vestal or Dark Sword-grass and only a single Rusty Dot Pearl. I have missed out on Dark Chestnut and Merveille du Jour now for sure, the latter I didn't trap last year either which is a terrible shame. Only new moth for the year was a lovely Female December Moth, other than that it is very slim pickings. More updates probably next week! Summary[
edit] Description: Garden Trap 12-11-12 - Stevenage, Hertfordshire It's my Birthday! and to celebrate I went for a meal. I have also have had a terrible cold over the last 3 days and so getting up this morning was not a good idea! back to bed for me. In the trap this morning were just 6 moths, not a great deal but did get garden firsts of December Moth and Beaded Chestnut. The Beaded Chestnut I thought I may not get this year, as it gets later and colder..but wait it seems to be getting a little warmer! so fingers crossed for some more. Summary[
edit] Description: My quietness has been a result of mixed thoughts, it has been either too cold, too windy or too wet, the latter I still trap in and after having a few batterings over the past two weeks it was time to fire the old girl up and actually see if anything was still out there. Three moths was all I could muster on Thursday night, about average from what others have been catching so I can't moan and I know plenty of you have had empty traps on some occasions. With Star Wars season nearly upon us and not Christmas (I refuse to put my decorations up just yet) The head of the December Moth reminded me so much of probably the most annoying character in the Star Wars universe, hairy Chewbacca. It was a nice big fat female December Moth to boot. I can remember vividly seeing my first female, so this is only my second ever in 9 years. I will try again into next week as milder air pushes up from the continent once more.
