This species is a member of the Campanulaceae family. There is currently some taxonomic controversy over the proper placement of this species, it may be renamed Campanulastrum americanum. Summary[edit] Description: This is the American Bellflower. It was spotted in a soggy open woods, along a water shore. It is about 30 inches long. The flowers have 5 blue petals with a creamy-white center. The petals are pointed with a vein down the center, and ruffled (wavy) edges. A long curving style protrudes from the center.
