seasonally common, these kinds of locusts can be anywhere within the dunes at Ocean Beach, often found tucked into the middle of a thick Spinifex.
-
Several of these observed along the track to the beach.

We found this guy on a rock along the walkway to Godley Heads from Taylors Mistake. I definitely have a knowledge gap with invertebrates... can anyone enlighten me? It was a decent size but forgot to put something in the shot for a reference - maybe around 8-10cm in length.
-
Lots sunning themselves on a clay walking track for a couple of days, then gone again. Very large, from 6 to 10cm long.
-
-
A few around again.

Dive bombed me to get my attention then waited while I got photos from different angles. Biggest one I have seen and love the markings on the face.

Australian grasshopper or locust? Used for dinner for reptiles ect. I know they are Australian because they are used so that if they escape they won't be able to survive, but not sure on species See more photos on facebook https://www.facebook.com/GivernysCollection/photos/?tab=album&album_id=276686142695297
