Had an incredible time exploring with @bob777 and @squaylei2000 -- great botanists and friends and with Jeanne. Jeanne owns over 100 acres next to this lake, and because this is private land, I'm obscuring the locations of these observations. It was an AWESOME day to see lots of new plants for me, and of course, several new bugs too. :)

Just leaving a restaurant and this guy was just relaxing on my windshield. Put a notebook underneath to try and reduce glare from the flash, and also for size reference. Sadly, it flew away before I could get more photos!

"This one was huge compared to any I've seen before. I need to start carrying a ruler for scale but I'd estimate this one to be at least 4"" long."

Collected on September 20th, but photographed in captivity while mating on September 24th. The female and male had both been well fed. Female decapitated the male during mating and consumed about 2/3 of his body.

Went around this Marine Creek Reservoir this morning to look for birds... Didn't see many birds, but I did spot some plants. :)
