know that these are difficult to ID from prior experience but notice this has been pretty common among Texas observers and appears to be very similar to this one on BG http://bugguide.net/node/view/214624 it was a pretty sizeable robber fly but not as large as the Microstylum morosum, but I could not get very close to this one because of intervening poison ivy

Seen a fair number of these today but this one had a Band-winged Dragonlet
