Pretty sure on the ID here but not a 100% also included a shot of my index finger next to the same perch this little robber fly was perched on, didn't have a macro lens with and even then this little robber is 5-7 mm long at best

Hadrokolos texanus Mary Moore Searight Park, Austin, Travis Co., Texas 31 August 2010 3 shots posted. This is a tiny robber fly. One shot posted of a specimen against a mm rule. Several were collected at the request of an entomologist and assilid expert at a major university for ID and voucher collection.

10-07-13_IMG_1116 This is one of our very late year Robber flies to show up, and they are very small most of these average under 12mm the females are the larger of this species, Need to take the macro lens out to do these tiny predators some justice.

"Robber fly with unknown beetle. This Robber seems smaller than others that I've seen at this location. This one was only 1/2"" long. Per @ericisley, this may be (Heteropogon currani)."
