It was a stroke of luck finding this beauty while I was waiting for Golden Hairstreaks to pose (which they sadly never did to my satisfaction). Pretty far from water. There's a stream at the bottom of the canyon but I sincerely doubt it's running right now.

I found this insect right near the waterfall at Eaton Canyon.

I saw this species perched further up hill a few weeks ago and was a bit perplexed because I doubted the stream was running, but lo and behold the stream is running, and I saw 4-5 of these beauties patrolling it. Photographing flying dragonflies under forest canopy is sort of impossible, thus: action shot.

Found dead in the stream, but we saw a live one patrolling as well.
